I am a plant taxonomist based in Alice Springs, Australia. It is virtually in the centre of Australia and within a day's driving to Ayers Rock/ Uluru, the Olgas/ Kata Tjulu and to the north the Devils Marbles.

I run the Northern Territory, Alice Springs herbarium (NT) which houses 60,000 specimens and is the most comprehensive of arid Northern Territory, with collections from the arid areas of the neighbouring states. Our parent herbarium is based in Darwin and concentrates on the biodiversity rich Kakadu & Arnhemland.

Although, we are a small herbarium of 1.5 staff, we still manage to conduct monitoring field work on threatened species, catalogue the flora, and describe new species.

My personal scientific interests are in the legumes and I have published on the egg & bacon genus Dillwynia, as well as Isotropis. I hope to one day tackle the taxonomic nightmare of the arid Sennas.

I love going out and collecting plant specimens. I always have a plant press in my car and being outside my current arid region doesn't stop me. I just love examining the floral diversity of this interesting continent.
