My main focus is woody plants, and trees in particular. I am especially interested in uncommon native species (which may have been more common historically) and catching early stage naturalization of alien species.

Elms in general grab my attention and I am always searching for populations of Rock Elm (Ulmus thomasii) and Slippery Elm (Ulmus rubra), which along with mature specimens of the far more common American Elm (Ulmus americana) are "favourites".

I have been leading a push to better document the distribution and population of Red Spruce (Picea rubens) in Ontario and southern/western Quebec.

I am located in eastern Ontario, Canada but interest is worldwide.
