Having recently moved onto a 23 acre life-style block out of Kaukapakapa I have been very interested in observing the wildlife on or near our property.

We see the occasional Kereru, Tui, Morepork and daily, on our bird-feeder, we see Myna, Sparrow, Chaffinch, Spotted Dove, Barbary Dove and occasionally a Magpie on the feeder or pairs out on the grassland.

We have frequent visits to our ponds of wild ducks and occasionally a pair of Paradise ducks on the hillside.

Ground birds include pheasant (infrequently), more often seen feeding along the roadside when leaving or returning to the property.

Wild mammals include possum, rat, field mice, rabbit, hare, deer (feral).

I have also decided to document the plants growing here, including any weeds as well as native plants.
