am not a naturalist but play one on tv. been a birder since the age of 8. over time developed an interest in other life forms, particularly plants and bugs.
no education, most identifications of plants are iffy at best. we use a couple of texas specific field guides (ajilvsgi and eason), the lady bird johnson wildflower database (https://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=HEPR3) website, ricketts' two volumes pertaining to texas of "wildflowers of the united states, and inat's algorithm suggestions.
for insects we use kaufman's butterflies of north america", neck's "a field guide to the butterflies of texas", scott's "butterflies of north america", abbott's field guides on dragonflies and damselflies of texas and the inat algorithm.
Most observations will be from Nueces, Live Oak, Jim Wells and San Patricio counties. The bulk will come from our little corner of the world on Lake Corpus Christi
