I have always been interested in nature and being outside. After grad school with a degree in Environmental Science at Indiana University, I worked at Everglades National Park in the research program. Studied nutrient dynamics in the freshwater marshes and then microinvertebrates as part of a food web study. Then worked in north-central Florida, managing large scale lake and wetland restoration programs, restoring over 40,000 acres of wetlands and about 60,000 acres of lakes in the headwaters of the Ocklawaha River basin. After retiring, I relocated to San Diego, CA, where I am now a docent at Torrey Pines SNR, leading hikes and partipating in birdcounts. I am also on the Conservation Committee of the San Diego Audubon Society.
