I was born on the backwaters of the Mississippi River in Minnesota. Year round the Vermillion River was an adventure from the row boat or ice skates The high water in the spring floated me high up into the canopy of the woods. Pretty much have lived where the wild things are.
In my adult years I lived in the Houston-Galveston, Texas area. Answered a post card plea for Dolphin research volunteers which was an incredible family adventure on the Gulf of Mexico for five years with whale watching trips in California.
I tend to think as a caretaker of land and water without borders. This comes from walking miles across fields with the power of a manchette to cut corn from the beans. Walked miles trespassing over neighboring lands to pick violets from the Indian Mounds. Continued as a volunteer in 36 school habitats, one for seven years training teachers and one for nine where I restored a woods. Essentially needed to become a Native Plant Society member and a Texas Master Naturalist to be among birds of a feather.
