Captain reported that the ocean waters were 64 degrees Fahrenheit, far warmer than normal.
Difficult to estimate total size of the group, but by watching sections and counting what appeared to be distinct leaps, I estimated there were about 200 dolphins in the group. All appeared to be the same species.
I sent photo to Dr. Sarah Allen and she agreed with the identification, stating in an email "Looks like long beaked. Also a report of a sighting recently in region."
