Teneral female Nepogomphus walli (fourth shot is similar probable habitat across property)
I chased this beauty around for way too long...but I'd do it for even longer if I could do it again. In pursuit the senses are at their epitome. This modern life makes a total waste of the experiential.
As I hunted this tiny gomphid and searched the various shades of green with my eyes for any glint or discrepancy, a man on the adjacent property plowed a field by hand, mountains towering in the background and a morning fog inexplicably hanging on in the heat. I thought about our relative luxuries and distractions...chuckled how I ended up in a country I knew nothing about, with no itinerary...enjoyed so much possibility but found life so meaningless.
I wondered how to call "dragonfly" in Thai and with an abundance of species in this area and a tie to the land if he would discern a gomphid from a libellulid, or maybe an aeshnid.
I decided not to interrupt him to satisfy my own curiosity.
