The add was detected by a member of the public and the Western Leopard Toad Conservation Committee was notified by Stiaan Van Huyssteen at January 18, 2018 11:27 AM

A committee member phoned the advertiser:
"... found it in his back yard, he lives in Ottery, I explained that it’s illegal and nobody would be interested in buying it and I would like to pick it up but he put the phone down and now doesn’t answer my phone.
What now?"

Gumtree was approached later that afternoon by a committee member, and responded that live animal sales were not allowed and the advert was pulled by January 19, 2018 11:20 AM

Permission to post this was received : 22 January 2018 16:36, along a with a note that Gumtree will investigate further and escalate it to the Endangered Wildlife Trust.
