Description

I do not know what moss this is. I am pretty sure that this specimen is a moss, however. It appears to be dying in certain parts and is generally discolored. It covers a large area of around 2.5 square feet. The specimen was found growing in a cooled rocky alcove a few hundred feet from Onion Creek. The moss appeared to have cobwebs/spiderwebs of some sort around it and did not look friendly to touch. I am really wondering if any of y'all can identify this moss.
