Description
White Rock lake, creek between the lower spillway steps and the lower spillway proper
Photo 1: Hey Guys, We Have A Visitor
I was looking at some sliders basking on a rock when a ouachita map turtle climbed up and joined them. This was my 3rd time to find ouachitas at this lake.
Photo 2: Checking Out The New Guy
The red-eared sliders came over to check out the new guy. The long toenails and fat tail give me the gender for the map turtle.
Photo 3: Just Look At Those Fancy Yellow Ear Muffs
Supposedly there are no Ouachita Map Turtles in Dallas County. However, I have seen at least one male and one female of the species at this lake.
Photo 4: New Guy Notices Red Checking Him Out
The map turtled seemed to notice that one slider was crowding his personal space.
Photo 5: Hey Dude! Why Dontcha Take a Picture, It'l Last Longer
I guess he didn't like being crowded because right after this shot, the map turtle took off and dived back into the water.
