Description

This is a formal, not casual, observation. The subject is not a pet. However, the fact that it’s on my leg, actually overalls, may require explanation ...

I had come across some Armadillo Girdled Lizards. They had quickly disappeared. I settled on a nearby rock to try for photos. The rock I had expropriated had seemed to be the domain of a young Karoo Girdled Lizard. In the next half an hour or so, it scurried up my left arm and over my shoulders (scaring off a now-visible Armadillo when I jerked out of deep concentration) and, later, (another Armadillo having eventually reappeared) it walked up my right leg. Resignedly, and very slowly, I did it the courtesy of a few photos. I was then left in peace. Amazingly, the 30-second photo op interruption had not disturbed the second Armadillo.
