I saw these flowers on a large tree (at least 6m high). No idea what it is or alien or not.
Flower (pic 1) about 100mm diameter.
Each little ball is about 5mm diameter and consists of 4 quadrants (pic 2).
5 red strings lead to each little ball, one string to each quadrant and one to something inside (pic 3)
At a stage the little balls open up showing the inside of the quadrants (pic 4 and 5) and the feature that's in the middle (pic 5) which looks the stamen to me (diameter about 3mm)
