This was undoubtedly the major discovery of the day. I was specifically looking for Aphyllon (Orobanche) uniflora at the single location where I had seen the plant over a decade ago*. I eventually found one plant today at the original location. Later on the hike, I came across three more populations of the species numbering over 20 plants--a major boost in the known population here.
I have generalized the location for this observation due to the rarity and sensitive nature of this species. The single flowers are barely 2" to 4" high, usually hidden in dense grass, and some of them are very close to a trail and could be trampled easily.
The species is known in Texas only from several widely scattered locations.

This is the first iNat observation of the species uploaded for Texas.
