? Glossy brown, about 10cm long. Thought it was a copper skink at first glance as it flashed by between my hands. Not photographed but seen clearly for a second as it scuttled out of exotic grasses being pulled from base of harakeke at outer margin of 20yr old native tree planting. It crawled into the remaining grass, tradescantia and leaf litter around the harakeke shown here.
The 2km of roadside tree planting extends 60yr old regen native forest on previously burnt land, now urban, bordering the stream at bottom of bank to right.
