Description

I know I have posted this species previously and I don't like to post separate "observations" of the same species since it would consume way too much time (sorry iNat) but this dorsal/ventral set is superior to what I posted previously. This is the only hispine species I have found on Arludovica palmata, the "Panama hat plant," which grows abundantly in lower elevations than where I live. This is one of three I collected at a spot near the Rio Hollin, Napo, Ecuador, about 1100 meters elevation. Based on the morphology, this appears to be Cyclantispa, a new genus related to Homalispa and associated with Cyclanthaceae plant species, the genus name deriving from Cylanthaceae and Homalispa. Genus described by Lukas Sekerka here: http://www.aemnp.eu/PDF/54_1/54_1_257.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0OhrGjJ7-u-wz-cnVRbwztsadV984IienSBevc1uYKrlYczGgcEiod2MQ

Since Sekerka included only two species in the new genus, one from Panama and the other from Bolivia, this one should be an undescribed species.
