Description

This was one of those strange and unusual sights that you're not quite sure is taking place. A duck eating a fish!
It was a little before 9 o'clock, a December morning and here this yellow-billed duck suddenly had this decent sized fish in its mouth. For quite some time it attempted to get it nicely positioned to swallow it. Not so easy. It dropped it over and over which makes me think the fish had to already be dead. When the Yellow-billed duck mate came close it pretty much paid no attention yet the one with the fish tried frantically to swallow its catch. At that time, back in 2015, I did inquire from the birding fraternity around Jhb if they'd seen anything like this and apparently not! What type of fish I'm not sure.. maybe a bream..
