She had likely just flown up from the pond. I saw the violent jerking of the web back and forth while she expended bursts of energy trying to extricate herself.
Too much damage had been done already, even if she escaped she would have had a broken/malformed left hindwing (which maybe have been from the struggle or what ended her up there in the first place) and be predated by a bird, frog, lizard, or fire ants.
