Female Erythemis simplicicollis predating newly emerged female Sympetrum corruptum
Likely captured on first or one of the first flights. Look how cloudy and soft the eyes are.
This was near the end of my walk and I chased these two (eventually one, due to a change of life states for the meadowhawk) around for 5-10 minutes trying to get decent photos. I wasn't exactly satisfied but I needed to go intake more liquids as the midday heat in open sun can drain you quite rapidly. I will post a slightly more illustrative photo in another observation that for the prey item.
