Top and bottom plate still joined, no other body parts evident. Found clearly visible on sandy soil of bank between juvenile native trees and plants, about a metre above current water level, a metre or two from streambank edge. Sedimentary Waitemata sandstone stream through regen coastal lowland forest in urban reserve. Not present here in recent surveys/handweeding. Possibly washed downstream in recent rain events, though there is no other flood debris here. Possibly a released captive turtle or offspring of?
