It appears the body was torn apart medially through the thorax. I guess this is what these little cameras they put in cars are for...@jwn we need to get something else for your truck.

I'm sorry we took a trip specifically to see dragonflies and ended up inadvertently decreasing the life span of (at least) one and it wasn't even for science. For some species in certain habitats human traffic by vehicles causes fatalities in large numbers--I'll look for the paper later.
