Standing alone on streambank. was in a more closely vegetated area until I approached that area (not knowing the duck was there). Move about 10m to here, did some groomin and a lot of standing. 35 minutes later was observed still standing in the same spot.
Is this courting behaviour? Or a mother who has given up looking for her now-defunct ducklings? (Urban reserve, 20 years ago the broods used to be observed reduced gradually from 6-7 to 1 or none over a couple of weeks).
