A huge patch of Costus spicatus in the "normal" yellow flowering form was found along the road about 3 km southwest of Castle Bruce. This was the only observation we made of this species all along the road on the southwest coast of the island from Victoria Falls to the airport at Marigot. Most of this region had been cleared for banana plantations in the past.
