Description

This specimen was growing at the base of a Douglas fir Tree in the soil. It was growing in a small grouping of them at various ages.
Cap diamater 15mm (8mm), height of cap at center 5mm.
Height of specimen 65mm, including lower branching stipe that was buried under the soil. Width of stem at apex 2mm; widest width 5mm.
Odor: none
Color: Cap was umbonate and broadly convex. In the center of the cap was dark brownish red, and the colors graduated to a light yellow near the margin. Gills were concolorous, and bright yellow. Stipe was yellow near cap and graduated to dark brown near base.
No Latex.
Cap flesh was yellow.
Stipe was hollow, and not fragile.
Cap had a slimy texture when wet, stipe was dry.
Gills were adnate and tiered.
Sporeprint was whitish.
Spores were sausage like, long elliptical and smooth, one end of the spore was a bit pointed.

The most interesting thing about this specimen was the "roots" at the base of the stipe.
