I could not believe my eyes when I spotted this bright, beaming Clarkia among the Poppies and the Bindweed. I had never seen any Clarkia in this location before. Ever. Not even anywhere near here.

So I scoured the area to see if I could find more Clarkia. But, no, this was the one-and-only of its kind, bravely holding forth among strangers.... a true trailblazer!
