Description

Larval stage. Used a bug identifying app as I did not know what this was. It was found underneath the bark of a wooden stump and we peeled back the bark to find around 10 of these. We noticed a creaking noise coming from the stump and were curious. The app suggested this species or the Huhu beetle, but considering the Huhu is endemic to New Zealand I believe this was the Ribber Pine Borer.
