Description
Juvenile American Toad (Anaxyrus americanus) in Misery Bay Provincial Park on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. Photographed by Arthur Chapman and Audrey Bendus on 3 June 2013.
Only about 2.5 cm long. There are one or two 'warts' per black segment which would indicate that it is an American Toad, although some of the black segments on the back of the neck have 3 'warts'. The only other species is the area is Anaxyrus fowleri (Fowler's Toad') which has 3 or 4 'warts' per black spot.
