What

Eastern Patch-nosed Snake (Salvadora grahamiae)

Date

August 3, 2014 10:16 AM PDT

Description

Small (~foot long) very kinked and twisted looking snake. Moved very quickly. Obviously a patch nose snake, but is it Texas (lineata) or Mountain (grahamiae) subspecies? Seen in a maintenance building (hence the concrete floor) on two different occasions.
The absence of a thin dark line below the dark stripes (lineata) suggests this is grahamiae [per descriptions in Werler and Dixon, Texas Snakes].
