EGRETS AND HERONS
What should be apparent from this photo of a small cove in the LA River is the current abundance of the shore birds present. All of the egrets and herons in this photo are members of a single family, the Family Ardeidae. Though this observations highlights the Great Egrets (two on the left), also present are a single Snowy Egret (top), two Black-crowned Night Herons (center) and a Great Blue Heron (right).
