Description

Planted in the Christmas Tree Plantation at Baltimore Woods in the 1980s. Most of these are unhealthy looking and many are dead. There appear to be at least two fir species in this plantation. There is a record of "Abies concolor (white fir)" and "Abies bracteata (silver fir)" being planted here in 1981/1982. But "silver fir" seems to be another vernacular name for Abies concolor, so that might be a reason to question the Abies bracteata (commonly Santa Lucia fir ) ID.

The apparent A. concolor trees are now large and healthy looking, while the rest, including this one seem to be less suited for this site, and some have already fallen. A nearby plantation was record as having Douglas firs, which now look similar to these.
