Description

Canary Islands Date Palm (Phoenix canariensis), photographed near the intersection of California and Mathilda Avenues in Sunnyvale, CA. With its architectural lines - the pillar-like trunk and the long, arch-like leaves, this Canary Islands native has been one of the more popular palms to use in landscaping for quite some time. A single leaf can get up to 20 feet long!

Photographed using a basic camera phone.
