This morning, while biking the San Pablo Dam Road on the side of the road I saw this Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) that had been hit by a car. It was severely injured and was clearly dying. I called an animal rescue service, and while I was on the phone with the operator a ranger stopped by (alerted by another biker). According to the ranger, the bird didn't have any chance to survive. They were going to check and then very likely to euthanize him.
