Hi Naturalists!
Wow, what a contest. I can't believe how many observations and species are being recorded in iNat.
In Austin as of this minute, ncowey has the lead with 388 observations and 237 species. Go ncowey!
The top of the leader board as of this minute overall is the following:
First - San Francisco with 10,097 and 1,508 species
Second - Dallas/Ft Worth with 9,113 observations and 1390 species
Third - Austin with 7,222 observations and 1522 species
Fourth - Houston with 6958 observations and 1448 species
GO TEXAS!
Austin does have the most species so far.
Exciting!

The description of this project is " . . . challenge to see which city can document the most species during April 14 - 18. " I think Austin is winning :).
It does seem like the city with the most distinct species should be the winner. I could log 100s of live oaks every day, but who wants to see that?
Incidentally, as of Friday 4:30 PM central, ATX logged 2378 species, Houston has 2373, and DFW has 2245. We've been trading the lead with Houston several times over the past few days.
