Alien Biocontrol Abundance Survey
To provide data on the abundance and distribution (and dispersal) of Biocontrol Agents released in southern Africa.
STILL UNDER DESIGN:
All data are welcome.
For standardization we require:
- time to first observation (in minutes) - how long did you take to see the first signs of biocontrol.
- How abundant is the biocontrol
- What proportion of plants are affected.
Although all data are welcome, we are focussing initially on these species:
Aliens:
Wattles: Black, Blackwood, Golden, Longleaf, Port Jackson & Redeye;
Stinkbean
Sesbane
Needlebushes: Silky & Rock
Biocontrols:
Weevils: Seed, Stem & Bud (all)
Gall Wasps (Golden, Longleaf Wattles)
Gall Midges (Black & Redeye Wattles)
Gall Fungi (Port Jackson Wattle, Stinkbean)
Other Fungi (Needlebush Gummosis, Stumpout)
Seed Moth (Needlebushes)
A booklet is available to help with identification. But please photograph all evidence.
