Alien Biocontrol Abundance Survey

To provide data on the abundance and distribution (and dispersal) of Biocontrol Agents released in southern Africa.

STILL UNDER DESIGN:

All data are welcome.
For standardization we require:

  1. time to first observation (in minutes) - how long did you take to see the first signs of biocontrol.
  2. How abundant is the biocontrol
  3. What proportion of plants are affected.

Although all data are welcome, we are focussing initially on these species:

Aliens:
Wattles: Black, Blackwood, Golden, Longleaf, Port Jackson & Redeye;
Stinkbean
Sesbane
Needlebushes: Silky & Rock

Biocontrols:
Weevils: Seed, Stem & Bud (all)
Gall Wasps (Golden, Longleaf Wattles)
Gall Midges (Black & Redeye Wattles)
Gall Fungi (Port Jackson Wattle, Stinkbean)
Other Fungi (Needlebush Gummosis, Stumpout)
Seed Moth (Needlebushes)

A booklet is available to help with identification. But please photograph all evidence.
