The purpose is to identify pollinators in Ames Iowa. We are planting native plant gardens in the community to provide habitat for native pollinators. This project is primarily for Ames High School students but anyone in the Ames area is welcome to contribute and we appreciate help from community members on identification. It is OK to include non-natives, and non-pollinators because we want students to know the insects they are seeing. In notes on ID, we certainly appreciate information about whether these have been native to the area or have been introduced and also information if they are primarily pollinators, chewers, both, etc. Benefits such as parasitism of pest species is also good information for this project. less ↑
