Amherst Bird Strikes Project

Birds striking windows is an extremely common issue. Klem (2008) cites bird death by striking windows as the highest human-related avian mortality factor following habitat destruction. More than 1 billion birds die from striking windows in the US annually. In order to evaluate the impact of glass and windows on bird populations in the Amherst vicinity, we have set up this open Amherst Bird Strikes Project site as a citizen science initiative for local concerned citizens to document and census bird strikes. less ↑
