This project was created by the crew at Yarra Ranges Intrepid to highlight the amazing biodiversity our natural world has to offer, and to create a space to share cool finds with our community. We want to engage and encourage all demographics, particularly younger people, into learning about nature, being proactive in citizen science, and present an opportunity to get involved in community-based nature loving!
We think iNaturalist is a great platform to start getting engaged in citizen science; raising awareness for biodiversity, making contributions that help with conservation and species protection, and be part of a global network of nature enthusiasts and professionals.
Yarra Ranges Intrepid Landcare is a youth-oriented group with aims to engage, connect and share knowledge with young people across the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges. We want to raise awareness and participation in environmental projects and long-term goals for sustainability, empowering young people to do stuff that matters! We like to bring together adventure and Landcare, with a focus on collaboration and connection.

For Plants: Leaves, stem, flowers, bark.
For Animals: Multiple angles and zoom in if you can
Try and make sure your observations are wild. Whilst you may have some stunning plants in your backyard, we are passionate about what you are finding out in the wild. Same with pets - lets keep those pics for memes!
If you are wanting to ID a garden plant - you can choose 'cultivated'.
