10/2/14

Today, I monitored the camera from 5:38 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The water clarity was minimal. The visibility was low and the kelp movement was normal. I saw quite a bit of fish activity. A lot of small schools of fish. Maybe Pacific Sardine or California Grunion. The Garibaldi made frequent visits to the camera dome and even snacked on some of the build up. Made for an interesting close up observation. I saw a couple new species that I haven't seen yet, but was unable to clearly identify any of them.

Today, I monitored the camera between 4:15 p.m. and 4:37p.m. The water clarity was very poor. Visibility was very poor and kelp movement was harsh. I saw very little fish activity, and unless the fish swam right next the to camera dome I was unable to see anything more than a silhouette. It is possible that there was more activity then what I was able to see due to the kelp blocking the camera and the clarity of the water. The camera dome, at times, is impossible to see through due to build up depending on which direction the camera is facing.

Today, I monitored the camera from 10:25 a.m. to 10:38 a.m. The water clarity was minimal and the visibility was poor to minimum. Kelp movement was normal. There was very little fish activity today even though I believe I saw a couple new species. I saw one California Sea Lion and I believe I saw an Opaleye. As always, I saw a Garibaldi and Blue Rockfish. The camera dome is getting cloudier and cloudier every time I log on so that makes visibility lower and reduces my odds of see and correctly identifying a species.

Today I monitored the camera from 2:15 p.m to 2:30 p.m. The water clarity was minimal. The visibility was minimal and the kelp movement seemed normal. There was low fish activity. As usual I saw several sitings of Garibaldi and what I believe to be Blue Rockfish. I though I saw the underside of a small shark, but didn't see it again so I couldn't try to identify it. Periodically the camera would pan around and between light rays in the water and the algae growing on the camera dome; I couldn't not see much. I did see a small school of fish, consisting of between 3 to 5 fish. I'm not sure if they are Pacific Sardines or another species of small fish.

Today, I monitored the camera from 5:47 p.m. to 6:09 p.m. The water visibility was very low and kelp movement was high. This made it almost impossible to positively identify the fish that I was able to see. There was a lot of fish activity. Most likely due to the cloudy water. I did see a Garibaldi as it kissed the camera. Everything else I was unable to identify.

I monitored the camera from 10:40 a.m. to 10:51 a.m. The water was moderately clear with a good visibility length. I saw one Garibaldi California State Fish and several sitings of a fish that I could not clearly identify. I believe it was one of the following: Blue Rockfish, Halfmoon or Blacksmith. The movement of the kelp was moderate at times, but towards the end of my observation it appeared to have more movement indicating stronger currents.
