Anemone stinkhorn fungus observed for the first time in Madagascar

Aseroe rubra known as Anemone stinkhorn is an Australian endemic fungus. it was collected in 1800 in southern Tasmania and named by French botanist Jaques Labillardière. It is widespread in Australia from southeastern Queensland through New South Wales and eastern Victoria and Tasmania. If It is commonly found in gardens and grassy areas in Madagascar It was observed in shady area within humid forest. Its foul odour which smells of feces or carrion attracts flies which spread its spores.
