15 species to go

We are now at 385 species. Can we as a group find 15 more species in the next 16 days. If needed I can post a list of birds that are still missing that we may be able to locate.

December birding

I have decided for December to try and find 100 species of birds during this month. They don’t have to be new birds. Is anyone willing to do this with me. I am also running a regular list as not every bird I find will provide me the opportunity to be photographed and recorded. I would love us as a group to find 100 - 200 species this month. I will ideally be doing daily posts about who is in the lead and what birds were found.

Happy birding

We are almost there

Sorry I have been away, but can we make 29k before the end of the month? I will send out a update later on how we are doing overall and comparing to other projects from the previous years. Thank you so much for all your photos you all have posted.

23k

We are almost there, only 95 more observastion to go. And I asked if you guys could make 25k by the middle of June, so can we make 30k by July 1st? Migration is still in full swing, so there are plenty of birds to find every morning before it warms up.

20k!!

Well we made it. Can we make 25k by June 15th? I’ve slowed down some so to personal matters, but those have been corrected so will be out in the field again soon trying to work my way back to the top observer. I doubt I’ll make it, as we have some great naturalists here who have gotten far ahead of me.

Happy birding

20k

With the speed we are moving at, can we get to 20k observations by the 15th, just 11 days from now. Mostly it’s out of idle curiosity as there are so many observations being made daily. I want to thank everyone that is participating especially @insectology and @fernsibley, whom I know have to bird harder to get back above them. Also if people are interested, I would love to hear stories of your birding adventures which I can do as posts here on this project.

Happy birding.

May 1st

We broke 17k observations these last few days, and we are so close to breaking 300 species. Keep up the great work everyone. Migration is in full swing still so tons of birds are passing through.

Come on almost there

We are within 200 observations of 12k observations. At this rate we should surpass last year by this October easily. At this time last year there was not even 5k observations.
