Experimenting with extracting and using data.

Spent a few hours this weekend looking into how to use MySQL in conjunction with WordPress to extract useful data from a .csv file downloaded from the project. Here are two pages of a list of butterflies and the plants they use, and another of a list plants and butterflies observed feeding.(Of course, the data set should probably be increased by a factor of 10 or so, but this is a small step.)

Note - there is a taxa issue with Sleepy Orange that needs to be resolved. The two pages can be seen here:

That's pretty cool. Are those results dynamic or static?

Great idea and fine work.

Is it possible (with more data) for a cut to state level?

I'm still working at searching through all my photos to get them into iNat and the appropriate projects.

Thanks. Those results are static, because I download the .csv file from iNaturalist, and load them into a MySQL database, and then run the extraction algorithm. However, static data can also be very valuable. Even with this small amount of data, some species stuck out for the wide variety of plants they use.

State level - the data in the .csv file is not always state specific. I want to do that eventually; maybe there is a way to get the state level using the lon/lat. If I did that, then I could try to use some of the Google charts that include maps. Lots of fun stuff to play with.
