Capture-induced parturition in sharks, rays & chimeras

A project to log observations of capture and stress induced parturition (either premature birth or abortion) in Chondrichthyans (sharks, rays and chimeras).

Capture-induced parturition is a largely unreported, often misinterpreted and poorly understood indirect impact of fishing on Chondrichthyans. However, a recent review highlighted over 41 observations of capture and stress induced parturition and since then a large number of similar observations have been made.
