Quick survey about the City Nature Challenge

City Nature Challenge participants! Thanks so much for your energy and enthusiasm for the City Nature Challenge this year – it was incredible to see so many people excited to document their local nature.

Please help us make the City Nature Challenge even better next year!

If you took part in the City Nature Challenge – whether you made 1 observation or 1000 – we’re hoping you’ll fill out this short (only 5 questions!) survey to let us know about your experience. All input is important and appreciated!

City Nature Challenge is over

The first Seattle City Nature Challenge is now over.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped ID observations!! Seattle currently stands at 1,524 observations and 395 species.

Remember, you have until 9 am on the 22nd to add your observations from the 14th-18th to be counted towards the City Nature Challenge total numbers.

The entire City Nature Challenge has now reached 109,005 observations nationwide!

There is still time to help identify species to improve our species seen numbers. If you have the time and skills to identify, please do!

Thank you again to everyone who participated and made our first City Nature Challenge a success. We may not have won, but we did very well and had some excellent observations, including a coyote and orcas!

Resources

I've compiled some resources for participants. In the Google Drive, you will find directions on using iNaturalist. Feel free to print them for yourself or groups.

I have also added posters and postcards you are free to print and distribute.

Finally I've put together a list of identification books for everything from plants to sea life.

You'll find all these documents here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B2DtnDtnSLenaTV5bzdXTE9KY0k?usp=sharing

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting Seattle's iNaturalist page for the City Nature Challenge. Please feel free to contact me with questions.

There will be a launch event on April 13th at 7pm at Machine House Brewery in Georgetown. I will provide handouts on using iNaturalist and have a laptop set up for those who would like to make an account then.

Please spread the word of the City Nature Challenge and feel free to create your own events or walks!
