Do you have a favorite borough? Interested in how it did? I did some data exploration over the weekend and found some more results to report! Note: All data were pulled on the evening of Saturday (May 5), so some of the totals may have changed by the time you are reading this.

Bronx has the greatest improvement in the number of species found compared to the CNC last year!
Bronx - 181% increase in the number of species found
Queens - 165%
Manhattan - 164%
Brooklyn - 136%
Staten Island - 33%

Fascinating, thank you for putting this together! Looks like I skewed the animal results on Staten Island, woops! (6 hard and 4 soft clams are mine). Can't wait for next year; may have to spend more time in poor S.I.
I enjoyed looking through this very much Kelly -- it really is interesting to see the differences in the boroughs. And Sara, any shells that you can find now or any time, I can ID!
If you are ever lucky enough to come across patches of beach drift that contain the shells of small species, we could ID quite a few more species! Also if you would like to continue learning to ID shells, even before the next CNC, I would be delighted to teach you! (Or anyone else.)
Staten Island is very rich in nature and very well worth exploring.
