Project numbers changing after project period.

You may note that observation, observers and species totals change after the City Nature Challenge is complete.

The final tally for this, and all projects in the CNC is a snapshot at the respective cut-off time.

OBSERATIONS:
Observations taken over the 4-day period and uploaded after the additional grace period do still reflect in the project. Thus, the project will collect all information until everyone has finished their uploads.
Please, do not go and delete those observations now, or stop your uploads. They may not have counted for the CNC but are still valuable information.
There is no “Added By” cut-off date in the project. Thus, the project still includes these late observations.

Also, observers may have deleted an observation which was a duplicate or made some other form of correction which will also reflect on the project.

SPECIES:
Species are still been verified over time.
Of the 19977 observations, 10776 achieved research grade so far. So, as time goes by, and experts carry on doing identifications this number will change.

OBSERVERS:
An observer may have incorrectly placed an observation within the project, and later corrected this error. After the correction, the observers’ numbers will also change, and this would also affect the total observations for the period.

To get a more accurate reflection on what was uploaded from 30 April – 09 May 21 follow this link:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?created_d1=2021-04-30&created_d2=2021-05-09&d1=2021-04-30&d2=2021-05-03&place_id=any&project_id=city-nature-challenge-2021-garden-route&subview=map&verifiable=any

No one has control over any user amending or deleting their observations over time.

City Nature Challenge: the results are in!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped organize, participated in, and identified observations from the 6th annual City Nature Challenge! Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we had over 10,000 more people participate compared to last year, and for the first time ever, we made over one million observations in the four days of the challenge!

Here are the collective results:

The bells have tolled

The bells have tolled for Southern Africa. In a few hours from now those around the world behind out timeline will also finish.
All going well the final results will be available for all tomorrow.

Currently the Garden Route is placed in 11th position for observations standing at 19977. Next on the list is Greater Philadelphia Area. Hope we hold them, and New York City off.

For species, the Garden Route is currently in a comfortable 5th position at 2748 species, with Dallas/Fort Worth 2682 species. Hold thumbs they have no ace up their sleeve.

Well done everyone. To those who took the time to take observations and upload them, and never forget those who spent hours - no, days doing identifications.

Everyone give yourself a high 5.

Australian Acacia biocontrol

If you have taken a photo of any of the Australian Acacia’s, and they have funny bumps and lumps on them, it may be biological control.
You can duplicate the observation and add the biocontrol as an observation as well.
