Up to a billion birds are killed due to window collisions every year in North America. This project documents bird-window collisions in the state of Connecticut. We encourage all Connecticut residents and visitors to document the bird-window collisions that they encounter.
The goal of this project is to gather data about bird mortality due to buildings in our state, to identify specific buildings that are killing birds frequently, and to use this data to propose and advocate for mitigation action to protect birds from preventable deaths. Observations of other wildlife window collisions, such as bats and dragonflies, are also welcome.
Please take photos of the bird from multiple angles to help with identification, and please include a photo of the building facade. Thanks!
