Craft Lake City DIY Festival

The Natural History Museum of Utah is hosting a two-day bioblitz (exploration of nature in the downtown and surrounding areas) for the 10th annual Craft Lake City Do-It-Yourself Festival (https://craftlakecity.com/diy-festival/).

Explore the Salt Lake City with the iNaturalist app to learn what is living in our urban areas. Downtown SLC and surrounding areas (Glendale, Poplar Grove, Rose Park, Avenues, Marmalade, Granary, People's Freeway, Sugarhouse, and definitely the Gallivan Center Plaza during the festival) are great places to make observations that will contribute to Salt Lake's urban biodiversity index. What better way to DIY than to participate in citizen science initiatives!

WIN FREE ADMISSION TO THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF UTAH BY CONTRIBUTING TO OUR INATURALIST PROJECT

1. Download the iNaturalist app and join the 'Craft Lake City DIY Festival' project
2. Make 20+ different observations from August 10-12th within the borders of the map below), ONE FREE ADMISSION for every 20 different observations!
3. Pick up admission tickets at the NHMU booth during the festival in the STEM Action center OR email lkaili@nhmu.utah.edu your iNaturalist username (for example: @lkaili)
4. Tell your friends and thank you for your contributions!

[A bioblitz is an event where participants observe as many species as possible within time period. It's a fun introduction to biodiversity while collecting valuable data. This data is used by scientists, researchers, developers and planners.]
