Cryptozoology is the study of the flora and fauna which are not currently accepted by mainstream taxonomy. It deals with the fantastical, the elusive, and often the unreal. However, the Bili ape (much like the Congolese gorillas in Michael Crichton’s "Congo", and formally discovered in the early 2000’s), the coelacanth (once thought to be extinct), and the giant squid (of which there have been recent, large specimens discovered) were all cryptozoological creatures at one point.
Please annotate all fantastical sightings with as much information as possible; time, location (obscure or privatize if warranted, please see Terms & Rules) , and any local legends or native lore.
Thanks for participating.
