Project List
I am trying to figure out what the value of the Project List is. It appears that if I add a new observation that is not on the project list, it is accepted just the same as one that is. If I then do a search on the project I will see the new taxa, but if I download a CSV of the project list, only the ones I entered to the list in the first place show up, and not the ones I added via observation. There is something called "apply rules", but I don't know what that is, and I can't find any documentation. I suspect it is just something I have to click on and see what happens.

I found "help". It says it is possible to limit the addition of observations to things that are in the project list, but it does not tell how.
I also have found that I can use my own taxon nomenclature to add taxa, and iNaturalist adds the taxon name it recognizes as the primary. I can not do that when entering a list. There are a lot of puzzles keeping this from being as useful as I would like.
